A Landmark Sale Highlights Diego Giacometti’s Legacy as a Master of 20th-Century Design

Diego Giacometti’s exquisite console ‘Promenade des Amis’ (1976) achieved a staggering €9.5 million at Christie’s auction on December 3, 2024, setting a new world record for the celebrated artist. The piece, directly sourced from the artist’s studio, was the highlight of the auction, captivating collectors and art enthusiasts alike.

This exceptional result was part of a larger auction that totaled €19.4 million, doubling its high estimate and underscoring the sustained demand for high-quality design pieces. The Lady Harrison Collection played a pivotal role in the evening’s success, with its four rare works by Giacometti achieving a combined total of €12.3 million. These outstanding sales further cement Christie’s position as a leader in the global design market.
