Studio Giancarlo Valle, an award-winning international design practice, will present a captivating “cabinet of curiosities” at the 2024 Salon of Art and Design, marking its debut at the renowned fair. The studio provides an intimate glimpse into its creative process with this site-specific installation, showcasing its unique approach to blending architecture, interiors, and decorative arts.
At the heart of the presentation is a collection of handmade maquettes—miniature models that act as a “living sketchbook,” capturing the studio’s elastic and experimental design philosophy. Each maquette offers a tactile perspective on its projects, ranging from a clay sofa and a 3D-printed table to a detailed model of a dining pavilion recently completed for a villa in St. Barts. These carefully crafted miniatures showcase the studio’s dedication to craftsmanship while emphasizing a sense of play and human gesture.
